What Causes Persistent Swelling In The Throat While Treating Strep Throat?

Hi, I've been diagnosed with strep throat 8 days ago. I've been on amoxicillin for 8 days also but the lumpy feeling on my throat still exist? I've having this symptom for 3 weeks now and that's the symptom I have for strep throat. How long will the swelling be in my throat? and should I go back to the doctor after 10 days of antibiotic and the lumpiness still exists? Thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent swelling in the throat while treating strep throat which seems to be due to low body immunity of body and swelling of tonsils or lymph nodes due to incomplete antibiotics course.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to Do betadine gargles at least 3 times a day and take Recofast plus capsule 3 times a day and diet rich in multivitamins. Avoid cold beverage and spicy food. If condition doesn't get better then consult ENT specialist once and get complete examination done. Go for blood test along with sputum test. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory medications.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
