Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have a pink and whitish patch on the inside of my cheek. doesn't really hurt but is uncomfortable, sometimes a slight burning sensation. also noticed very visible small red veins over entire inside of mouth into throat, not sore or tender. any ideas?
As per your query pinkish white patch inside the cheek is nothing but due to continued irritation of oral mucosa. If you are a smoker and your smoking frequency is quiet high then it could be due to leucoplakia as leucoplakic patches are commonest among them. Dehydration of oral cavity exaggerating your condition. Red veins inside mouth, throat are normal and need not to worry about that.
I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene. Brush and floss two times a day. Rinse with antimicrobial mouth wash to prevent microbial flora from further growing. Do warm saline gargles and betadine gargles.
Visit dentist once and get it examined properly. Go for histopathological examination if dentist require that for proper diagnosis by taking specimen from your oral mucosa. Rehydrate your body with plenty of water and fluids.
Use scraper very gently to remove debris attached to patches as it will further spread infection.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
