What Causes Popping Sensation And Pain In Throat While Swallowing?

Sometimes when I m laying down or stretching, I feel a pop in my throat, and when I swallow, I feel a great deal of pain. It happens once every two or three weeks or so, and I only feel the pain on the right side, making me think my throat shifted to the right a little... Now I have had a slight but constant pain in that area where it hurt when I would swallow for about a week... What do you think could be happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The popping sensation is commonly related to Eustachian tube dysfunction. This is related to a viral infection or an ear infection that you might have had. I suggest using decongestant such as Dexometorphan to relieve the congestion. I also suggest to do exercises such as swallowing or chewing gum to open the tube.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
