What Causes Pregnancy Post A Vaccination For Hepatitis?
Hi doctor. Please try to sort this one out for me.in2006 I received three doses of hepatitis b vaccine. Later in 2009,i had a needle stick injury and my hbsab was checked.the titers were around 800..after completing my HIV prophylaxis, I had a full hepatitis screen. And was non reactive to all. The nurse advised me to repeat the vaccine. After two doses ibecame pregnant. My doctor told me not to go for the third since it might not be safe.he ordered a hepatitis b test which am not sure about but the results were reactive. He explained that it was okaysince I had toldhim I had received the vaccine. Two years now after the vaccine, I checked my antibodies and was surprised. Hbsab reactive with titers over 1000.I have read that the titers are high after vaccine and lower with time.please help me understand why my titers are so high. Thank you
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. High titres of hepatitis B virus are due to chronic HbsAg infection. You might have caught this infection by the needle stick injury. You need to take proper precautions during pregnancy and get your newborn immunized with immunoglobulin and hepatitis B vaccine after birth. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
