What Causes Pressure Feeling In Head, Photophobia And Tingling Sensation In Extremities?

My 13 year old daughter has been feeling pressure in her head along with feeling like passing out, light sensitivity, tingling in extremities. It started out with the head and tachycardia about a month ago. Cardiologist said she had a non harmful murmur and her ekg looked fine. We just received her blood work and her thyroid levels were T4- high 15.9 / T3- high 185 / Tsh-normal 2.640 and Antithyroglobulin Ab- high 17.7. What could this mean for her and what testing would need to be done next?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Based on the reports, it is likely that your daughter has a auto-immune thyroid disorder. This is indicated by the anti thyroglobulin antibody and the raised T3 and T4.

The next best step is to do a thyroid iodine uptake scan to see the reason for this. Once confirmed, the correct treatment may be either medication or surgery in case the reason is a lump in the thyroid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
