Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pressure In The Chest And Tingling Sensation In The Hands?
At one point today I felt some pressure in the center of my chest and then both hands felt a little tingly/numb. It only lasted for a few moments, maybe 30 seconds at most and then it went away. It happened late afternoon and I have felt fine since then and all morning and afternoon before it happened. Should I be concerned, and what do you think it could be?
Tingling is most commonly due to affect from the nerves in an area or related to the blood supply.
The nerves from the neck supply the hands and if there is any arthritis or trauma or any issues with the bones in the neck then this can cause tingling but it is not usually associated with chest discomfort.
Though chest discomfort can be due to a lot of different causes, it may be best to be seen by your doctor to rule out more serious causes through the majority of persons, it is fine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
