Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pressure On Top Of Stomach And Heartburn?
Hello: About a week ago I began to feel a slight pressure in the top of my stomach. The pain spread up through my esophagus and into my neck, but it also made my arm hurt. This concerned me and I went to the doctor who performed an EKG and cardiac enzymes which were normal. The next day I began to belch up acid into my throat and it left a bitter taste in my mouth. The belching has continued and now I have full blown heartburn. Nothing seems to help and the pain in my arm, although not severe, has continued. Should I be concerned about my heart, or does this seem purely gastrointestinal?
Hello, If the EKG and enzyme tests are normal, then it may not be the heart-related symptoms but it is the symptom of GERD ( Gastroesophageal reflux disease ) If I would be a doctor of this case then I would try to treat this case with tablet Omeprazole with Domperidone once in a day for five weeks. Try to avoid the heavy meal, spicy meal, oily food, coffee, alcohol smoking prior to bed, have more alkali food like green leafy vegetables, fruit salt would be best.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
