What Causes Productive Cough, wheezing And Chest Pain?
I went to hospital yesterday morning as I was having trouble breathing and I had pain in my chest and the reports came back as I had costrochondritis. What I am confused about is when I have done research about this it just said its about pain in the chest but that's not all I am experiencing. I'm constantly coughing and coughing up a lot of mucus, I am wheezing alot aswell. Can these be symptoms?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. No, costochondritis can not cause coughing, mucus expectoration and wheezing. All these symptoms are seen in bronchitis and lung infection (pneumonia). So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). Chest x ray is needed to rule lung infection. PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis. You may need antibiotic, inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) on the basis of reports. Don't worry, you will be alright. Costochondritis is not causing all these, you need to rule out lung diseases. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
