What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding Despite Taking Primolut N?

Hi I am 43 years old and was taking primolet 3 times a day for two years to stop my period because I can not take the pill. I stopped the primolet 22nd September 2015 and didn t get my first period back until 7 weeks ago problem is the bleeding hasn t stopped its 7 weeks and I have tried to sop it with primolet it worked but then returned again. Should I be worried or what should I do to get it to stop and regulate it. cheers vicki.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Vicki welcome to HealthcareMagic
Regarding your experience with persistent vaginal bleeding following stoppage of primolut I will suggest you have developed a menomenorrhagia (excessive bleeding following menses)

In view of this please schedule an appointment with a gynecologist specialist for further clinical assessment and adequate drug prescription

Meanwhile please take vitamin K injection and tablet ergot pending your appointment

I hope this helps Regards
