What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding While On Oral Contraceptives?
Hi! I am 27 yr. Old and a mother of two..i've been in oral contraceptive pill for almost 4 mos. now .My usual mens. Cycle was 4-5 day nd 30 day until the next and problem is just recently my menstrual flow is over 2 weeks now but with little amount..i dont feel anything unsual beside of what i've stated..pls do enlighten me with this ☺..
As a physician, I would like to tell you that while on OC Pills what you experience is a withdrawal bleeding and not your regular menstruation. As you have stated that you just started taking pills 4 months back and it will take some time of about 6 to 8 months to adjust your body to the hormone.
Thus, I would suggest that you should wait for 6 to 8 months and if you still get scanty menstruation for more than 7 to 10 days even after that, you should contact your Md Ob/gy doctor as soon as possible.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question. Have a nice day.
Regards, Dr. Abhijeet
