What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding Along With Bad Odour Post Hysterectomy?

Hello. I had a subtotal hysteroctomy 15 years ago, I am now 45 yrs. old. The past 4 months, I have been experiencing vaginal bleeding of sorts. It is like old blood, dark brown and very smelly. I experience this app. a few days to a week about each month. Please help. Thank you. Kind regards, Tina

Hello Tina,

I can understand your concern. Partial hysterectomy is the procedure where uterus is removed by surgery wile cervix is kept in place. From the symptoms you are describing, it seems the cervix has got infected or some structural or functional abnormality of ovaries.

It is very difficult to reach a specific diagnosis and advise management for you here. I would advise you to visit your gynecologist for physical examination and ultrasound (USG) for specific diagnosis of the condition.
