Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding Despite Taking Progesterone After Endometriosis Removal?
I had a laparoscopic surgery to remove endometriosis 30 days ago and I have not stopped bleeding. My OB put me on straight pogestren and said I should stop bleeding, but I haven t. My normal Doctor is on vacation and can t help me for a few weeks. Should I go to the hospital?
Prolonged duration bleeding should be given medical attention if it hasn't stopped despite taking appropriate medicines for the same. Is it profuse continuous bleeding/ intermittent? I would suggest you go to the ER or your gynecologist without delaying more.
Losing blood for 30 days continuously will show adverse effects on your health so finding out the exact reason behind the bleeding is very important so that can be stopped with appropriate measures.
So, my advise to you is, go to the hospital as the doctors there will be able to manage it well with understanding all medical history of yours. They might suggest some investigations which will help to better understand the situation and give appropriate treatment to you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar,
General & Family Physician
