Hello,
Brief Response:
Chronic otitis media with chronic rhinosinusitis
Detailed Response: Your symptoms are part of the bigger picture where
chronic rhinitis (nose infection), leads to
chronic sinusitis and these two ultimately affects the ear causing chronic otitis media with fluid in the middle ear for which you had grommet insertion. No one treatment will relieve you since all three are inter related and must be treated hand in hand in order to have a long lasting relief. You must treat your sinuses by a modern day endoscopic
sinus surgery to make sure that your sinuses are well ventilated and well drained. This will help your ear to drain and heal.
Similarly, nose needs to be patent so your ears can have sufficient drainage by eustachian tube. While you visit your local ENT surgeon to investigate and plan for deviated septum and endoscopic sinus surgery, please follow the below mentioned conservative management for 4 weeks:
1)
Fluticasone nasal spray 2 puffs both nostrils twice a day
2) Vicks for steam inhalation twice a day
3) Zyrtec tablet 10mg once a day
4) Nasal
flushing with normal saline (can be done by over the counter equipment available)
5) Keep ears plugged to avoid entry into the ear while taking a shower / swimming
On step at a time for your Nose, sinuses and Ear problems will help you get back to your normal and healthy life. If you have any questions, I will be more than happy to respond.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
