Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have a purplish spot on my glans penis that appeared about 5 days ago and is not going away. I went to a clinic to be tested for an std and the syphilis and hiv test came back negative...the herpes is still out. The nurse didn t think it was an std and gave me some steroid cream, however the spot is unchanged. There is no pain with the spot and it doesn t itch. I haven t injured or bruised it in any way. Any idea what it could be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
There are many potential causes of a purplish spot on the glans penis, and without more information or examination, it is difficult to say for sure what the reason may be. Some possible causes include an allergic reaction, a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis, or an infection such as a fungal or bacterial infection.
The spot could also be a harmless mole or birthmark. I recommend seeing a urologist or dermatologist to evaluate the spot and receive a proper diagnosis and treatment. In the meantime, you should refrain from having sexual contact until you have seen a specialist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
