Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a keloid on my chest and currently getting steroid treatment on the same. The keloid was result of acne. Last few days loads of pus is oozing out of the keloid. Though my doctor got culture done but there wasn t any infection detected. What can be the reason for pus formation in the keloid.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pus formation in the keloid on chest which occurs when deposits occurs in chest area due to excessive collagen formation. Need not to worry. Best treatment option for this is injection of intralesional steroids. I would suggest you to apply intralesional triamcinolone acetonide as it will cause break down of collagen tissue and will cause flattening of scar. You can get its repeated injections as well. Pus formation and any redness is mainly because of infection. It could be due to variation in temperature as well. You should start using a topical steroid cream like clobetasol over the keloid.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
