What Causes Rapid Heart Rate After Taking Prednisone?
HI there, I have been on Prednison since Aug and now its been tapered off. I have been at 7.5 mg now for 10 days. Ever since I have on this drug, I have had increased heart rate. but the past few days it's been worse and very uncomfortable. It is close to 110 at rest time. and higher with the least bit of activity. Does this call a visit to ER? Thank you.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have rapid heart rate after taking Prednisone . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like tachycardia , which can occur due to may heart conditions like coronary heart disease and heart muscle disease , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to side effects of prednisone . Prednisone known to cause increase in heart rate as one of its side effects . I would suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss the condition with him/her . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist if he/she find problem to be related with heart .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
