Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rapid heart beat in my neck and iy hurts. Today at work I thought I had food poisioning. I threw up and felt better but after I got hom I got sick again and threw up and had dirrehea. About a 1/2 hour ago I got the rapid heart beat. It usually goes away after about 20 minutes. I can t get it to stop.
Illness can be associated with an increase in heartbeat. The loss of fluids from diarrhea and vomiting would also contribute to the increase that you noted.
For diarrhea and vomiting you would need to :
(1) make sure to give yourself back your fluids and electrolytes
(2) avoid solid food till a 4-hour window with no symptoms then restart with small amounts of dry foods e.g. toast, plain rice, biscuits
(3) probiotics may help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
General & Family Physician
