Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Rapid Heart Rate And Back Pain Post Fusion Surgery?
I had back surgery in January. It was a fusion of L5 to S1. I have 3 brackets. Today I have been having pain above where I had the surgery. I am laying on my back and can feel my heartbeat or a something where the pain is located. Any ideas what might be causing it?
As per my clinical experience, the pain above fusion surgery site indicate possibility of muscle or ligament pain. The sprain or strain of ligament or muscle is common cause of sudden onset of back pain with sensation of rapid heart rate due to underlying anxiety or panic of what happened to surgery. Guidance for better recovery: - Heating pad application - Use analgesic gel with Diclofenac, linseed oil with or without Capsaicin - Analgesic with anti inflammatory such as Ibuprofen, Diclofenac or Tramadol hydrochloride - Postural adaptations - Assisted physiotherapy
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
