What Causes Rapid Heart Rate And Breathlessness After Donating Blood?

I recently donated blood. (4 days ago) Since that time I ve been suffering from my heart racing, shortness of breath (panting) even if it is to go to the bathroom, and (I ve had this symptom 10 days ago) pain down my right arm. Could this just be from recovering from blood loss or anemia?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Due to loss of blood and anemia the heart tries to compensate for the loss hence heart rate increases.

Its a common phenomenon after donating blood.

Breathlessness is due to a decrease in the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood due to blood donation.

Both get recovered with rehydration.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
