Hello. Welcome to Health Care Magic and thank you for your question. I understand your concern.
The description you provided is probably from a
panic attack or a certain psychological state you got after an episode of
binge drinking. Do not worry, it can happen to anyone. During
stress, there is a release of adrenalin in our organism which is accompanied with fear and a spike in
heart rate, which can go up to 200 beats per minute. Of course, it can be also accompanied by cold clammy hands and feet,
tremor and a feeling of extreme weakness/passing out. However, effects of alcohol consuming for a large amount of time can produce worrisome outcomes. It primarily damages the liver and the brain (out of curiosity, a single episode of binge drinking can destroy up to 500,000 neurons - brain cells - which are the only cells that cannot be replaced by "new" ones). Consumed in long periods of time, it can also damage your heart muscle cells, and cause heart enlargement. While being totally reversible, alcohol consume has to be stopped immediately, before further and irreversible damages are done. Try and limit you alcohol intake to 30 g of
ethanol a day (two beers or a glass of wine or a glass of heavy alcohol beverages). If you do not succeed, seek help at a toxicologist's clinic and proper medical
rehabilitation should be undertaken. One thing is for sure, alcohol, used in large amount and long periods can cause multi-organ irreversible damages.
I hope this answers your query. Good luck.
Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
