What Causes Rapid Heart Rate And Fainting Spells While On Methylphenidate?
I have a severe case of tourette s syndrome. I was diagnosed at age 6, I am now 20. I stopped medication at age 16 however started having symptoms of anxiety and personality disorder; my doctor prescribed me 36 MG of Methlyphenidate and I m on my 3rd day taking 2 tablets a day. I have been noticing symptoms including rapid heart rate, short black out spells and an anxious uncomfortable feeling. It is 12 midnight and I am at work experiencing these symptoms. Is this an emergency?
Suggestive of some of the side effects of methylphenidate. Methylphenidate is a central nervous system stimulant commonly prescribed to treat attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy. Based on the history you seem to have developed undesirable side effects of methylphenidate like anxiety, rapid heart rate and fainting attacks. Yes, these symptoms can be dangerous so I advise you to visit the emergency room of your nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
