What Causes Rapid Heart Rate, Shortness Of Breath And Weight Gain?

Hi, I have seen a few doctors about how I have been feeling... I have had a rapid heart rate, extreme weight gain, I get hot really easily and I m tired alot for no reason even if I m not doing anything and I also have shortness of breath when doing simple things. Do you have any suggestions on my problem? This has been happening for a year, it seems to be getting worse and no doctor has been able to diagnose what might be the problem.

Hello,

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

I will be glad to answer it for you.

Your symptoms are very typical of Hypothyroidism.

First thing I would rule out Hypothyroidism.

Get TSH, T3, T4 levels checked in a good lab. If your reference TSH levels are more than the levels in the reference range, then it means you are Hypothyroid.

You will supplemented with Thyroxine, and it is life long treatment with dose adjustments.

If thyroid is normal, we need to investigate further for the other causes.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards
