What Causes Rapid Heart Rate Upon Movement Of The Eyes?

Hi, Just this week I started feeling a strain on my eyes. If I move my eyes left to right or rotate them in circles, my heart jumps. It almost feels like a string is connected from my eyes to my heart and it pulls everytime I rotate my eyeballs. Everytime it happens it feels like an anxiety attack is going to start. Should I be concerned? At first I thought it was my contacts, but I took them out and it is still happening. I also have a severe anxiety disorder, along with hyperthyroidism. Could this be linked?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Rapid heartbeat while rotating eyes could be due to an anxiety attack.
I suggest you relax and take some breathing exercises to relax.
In case this does not help then you may consult a psychiatrist for clinical assessment and thus treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
