My heart rate is 124 just from climbing my stairs. I have noticed it being faster at other times too, even at rest it can be 112 -120. My cardiologist just changed my blood pressure med from carvedilol to losartan. My pulse was in the 40 s on the carvedilol. At what point should I call my doctor?
Hello dear Understand your concern. Losartan is angiotensin receptor II blocker. It is used to treat hypertension. Yes it can cause rapid heart rate as side effects. Please not common side effects of drug: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea Cold Runny nose Headache Dry cough Insomnia muscle cramp, fatigue, malaise anxiety, slurred speech
You should consult the doctor if following side effects occur: Rapid heart rate Confusion Drowsiness Weight gain Breathlessness
