General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Thank you for posting your concern here. Before giving a definite opinion I need answers to the following questions.
1)which cardiac surgery did your uncle undergo?
2)Was he prescribed anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs to prevent blood clotting after surgery?
3)Did he have any liver or kidney disease,Hypertension,Hemorrhoids or Constipation.
4)Did he have gum or nose bleeds?
5)Was he taken to the hospital after the first episode of heavy bleeding?
Anticoagulant drugs like warfarin are necessary post cardiac surgery to prevent blood clots. But these drugs may have uncontrolled bleeding from various sites as an adverse effect. The chances for this increases with increasing age, liver or kidney diseases, hypertension etc.
I hope i have helped you.Thank you.
