What Causes Rectal Bleeding Along With Pus?

My husband has been working out of town for a month and he said he had some rectal bleeding assuming it was hemorrhoid a. Today, I went into the bathroom because he said he had an accident and there was large amounts of blood and pus! I said I was taking him to ER but he thinks it s nothing! Help!

Welcome to HCM. Sorry about this situation. I am sure that a bleeding hemorrhoid is not an emergency, only if you have been told so by a doctor in the past. Tjhe issue is one truly does not know how much blood loss has occurred. He needs to be evaluated and the fact that you say there is pus is also more worrisome, a visit to the ER is an insurance policy, you do not want to sit on a potentially fatal issue without having it checked out.
