Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Rectal Bleeding With A History Of Polyp Removal?
I went to the hospital today with rectal bleeding, and some slight abdominal pains. The hospital had said it was colitis, but didn't prescribe me anything to help with the bleeding and instead referred me to see a Gastroentrologist. When I was 7 I had to have rectal polups removed, and am wondering if in fact they haven't grown back. Does it sound like they could have?
Without examination, it is difficult to say what it is. Yes, it is possible to regrow polyps in polyposis colon. Other possibilities like hemorrhoids or fissure or fistulas etcetera. Use high fiber diet and avoid spicy food and alcohol. Please consult your gastroenterologist he will do a colonoscopy and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
