Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Rectal bleeding for one year, embarassed and ashamed to tell my doctor. Colonography was done and found normal. Colonoscopy done and found unclear. I have had two subsequent colonoscopies and came back normal. Ten years later I have intense pressure to my upper abdomen, right groin and left side of my neck as well as pain to my inner bottom right butt cheek beside pelvic floor. My doctor feels I have nerve problems and gave discounted my complaints. I have been so many tines to Emergency and know one will listen to me. What should I do and how?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can. In most cases, causes of bleeding through rectum are benign and include hemorrhoids, anal fissure or rectal polyps. These are primarily treated with stool softener, diet and sitzbaths. If there is no improvement in next few weeks, then surgical management should be considered. Other causes may be more serious and include tumors or inflammatory bowel diseases and these should be ruled out with colonoscopy which must be done if there is low blood count present or rapid weight loss. Otherwise, yiu can see if conservative therapy will help and consult proctologist if necessary.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health. DR. Ivan Rommstein
