What Causes Recurrent Fever And Elevation In WBC Count In A Child?
Hello Doctor.. My son is 3 yrs and 10 months old(Twins) weighing 11.6 Kgs. Once in 15 days he gets temperatures which goes till 102 at times. Giving P250 will reduce the temperature and he will settle down in 3 days . But then again after 15 days he will get the same without cold/any other infection. We had taken blood tests in which the WBC count is high and he is diagnosed to be mild anemic. We are now giving him Ruby Red syrup for the past 1 month. His appetite is poor. What should I do next?
With this much information, I could not tell you what could be possibly wrong with your kid however, I can guide you further what to do next in order to reach the diagnosis.
I need to know if he has a previous history of anemia or not? How are his other counts like platelets.
It could be due to a number of reasons like something wrong with the absorption of iron and contents from the gut, or it could be due to abnormal blood production or destruction.
I suggest you visit your physician for his proper history, examination and testing as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr SAMEEN BIN NAEEM, General & Family Physician
