What Causes Recurrent Pain Despite Taking Hydromorphone For A Compressed Nerve?

hi, i have a pinched nerve (femoral and lateral) my dr. tried ever medication under the sun to control the pain until finally hydromorphine worked. i was taking 2-18mg and 2-6mg pills a day AND IT WORKED,over the last yr he gradually reduced it to todays 2-18mg a day, the pain has increased again whats going on here???

Hi Pain caused by nerve compression is usually very severe and requires higher analgesics. Maybe the reduced dosage is not sufficient to over come the pain. Also over long periods of time our body develops tolerance hence dosages that worked previously may not work now. You may have to increase the dose a bit again. By the way have you considered surgery for this? I hope this helps. Take care :)
