What Causes Recurrent Seizures?

for the last two years I have been having brain seizures they last about 15 miutes each. My right foot starts shaking then my leg and right arm cramp up and extend out from my side and my body starts to twist away from what I try to do like roll over or sit up. there is pain though I can t pin down the location. I then lose conscience. for a while (as much as an hour, wake weak and disorientated. I have used a very small amount of methamphetamine as much as a week before the seizures. the doctors blame that as soon as they find out about it. I am taking LamoTRine and am going in to the neurologist for some scans. this last time I was 2 weeks without pills when I had 3 seizures within an hour. how serious is this? I have not felt right since sunday (spent the day in hospital

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to rule out any possible causes for seizure. Consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI scan.

Other investigations like serum electrolytes have to be done. If a seizure is not controlled, additional drugs have to be added.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
