Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, please. I have had at least 2 to 3 moderate/major strokes but I have recovered except for brain usage and memory. Then I had what was called TIAs which I just a pretty strong TIA 2 weeks ago...called 24 hour nurse and doctor they really didn t seem to think it a big deal since I have had them frequently. SO my question is what is RM stroke?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Recurrent transient ischemic attack (TIA) is a condition that requires further investigations. If neglected, the risk of stroke is very high. Possible causes or risk factors may include: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, carotid artery disease, peripheral artery disease, diabetes, excess weight, cigarette smoking, physical inactivity, and heavy drinking.
I will suggest you see a cardiologist or a neurologist for examination and tests. Your doctor may request for an ECG and a supra-aortic (carotid) ultrasound, brain CT scan, and lipid profile test.
Just see your doctor for a complete medical evaluation. Your doctor may also consider placing you on a low-dose aspirin and other drugs depending on the probable cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
