What Causes Recurring Headaches And Bump On Head Post Injury?
Hi my 10 year old son hit his head (right eyebrow) at a trampoline place last Saturday. He has had a headache each day since that only occurs for a few hours each day. Today a quarter size bump showed up. His pediatrician is aware and I will be calling him on Monday. Should I be more worried now that he has a bump?
Since your son has a history of trauma & is now developing bump(swelling) at the site of injury, You are suggested to apply ointment thrombophob in the area affected so that any blood clot formed may get reduced.
Recurring headache post trauma should not be neglected. Get CT & MRI done to detect any minor or major injury in the brain or skull. You may need to get EEG done to stay on the safer side.
For relieve you can give him acetaminophen, one sos when required after food. Some headaches go away on their own but others may require treatment.
Get him clinically assessed, if he is developing chronic tension headache type of pain he may require tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline). It reduces depression & pain. Get the pathology detected & get him treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
