What Causes Recurring Muscle Cramps Radiating To The Upper Body?

Recurring strong muscle cramps that move up the body periodically. Seems worse in high heat. I live in the Deep South where we have 100 degree plus days. However, it sometimes happens at night. Seems to be happening more often. I have a high stress job.
