What Causes Recurring Pain Above The Hip Bone?

I have been having a dull pain on my right side just above my hip bone that will come and go. Sometimes it will throb and then quit and about 30-40 seconds it will throb again and I guess I would like to have some idea what it could be. There have been a few nights that there is an ache on that same side that will last for 2 or 3 hours

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The two possibilities are coccalgia and sciatica.

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
