What Causes Recurring Right Sided Abdominal Pain?

From time to time I have this pain/discomfort on my right side. It usually occurs at night. It uncomfortatable so that I can not sleep. I also experience this discomfort during the day but it is bareable. My GP said I do not have kidney stones. I had been already treated for gall stones. I have been experiencing this discomfort since mid Sept 2011.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Pain in the right side of abdomen could be of 3 reasons:
1. Appendicitis.
2. Gall stones.
3. Kidney stones.
Since you have a long history since 2011, appendicitis could be the last possibility as it will present acutely.
Gall stone reccurence is possible and kidney stones also needs to be ruled out.
It is better you get an Ultrasound abdomen done to rule out these conditions. If any abnormality is seen, you need to consult Surgeon for opinion and management.
If no abnormality is detected, then it could be due to worm infestation. You can take Tablet. Albendazole two tablet stat and another dose after a week if necessary.
