Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Recurring Symptoms Of Painful Urination And Irritation In Genital Area?
I was treated with a once off antibiotic (MONURIL- Fosfomycin-)for a kidney infection on Monday Last. Relief was instant. Today I notice symptoms recurring with painful urination & a stingy bearing down feeling in the lower area. I have drunk 1.5 litres of water in an effort to flush out any infection but have just passed a small amount of cloudish urine. I am wondering should I visit my emergency surgery to get a prescription for more antibiotics and pay the extra €65. I am a perfectly healthy 46 year old woman.
1. since you were treated for kidney infection [pyelonephritis] and now presenting with painful urination and cloudy urine, most probably it is bacterial bladder infection - CYSTITIS.
2. Urine test which may be either dipstick test or a urine culture will help to identify the organism responsible for the UTI and also for the choice of antibiotic
3. drink plenty of fluids to flush the urinary tract and urinate regularly. . In females they should wipe from front to back after using toilet. .
