Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a few red, puffy, itchy spots on my mons pubis. I shaved twice very close in time and this resulted in razor burn, and I was sexually active with a new partner, and his face was very stubbly. After the razor and beard burns healed, I have these red, round, raised spots that don t burn, but itch. What could this be?
Close shaving may cause minor abrasions or injuries at the skin or epithelium. This provides an easy access to fungal or bacterial infection at that area. Apply some antifungal or antibiotic ointment at your genital area twice daily under your gynecologist's guidance. Keep the area clean and moisture free. Take some oral antihistaminics like Cetrizine or chlorpheniramine twice daily to reduce itch. Dont scratch when you feel itch instead apply warmth through fomentation. Never shave close and without softening the hairs. Soften the hairs with some shaving cream or soup. This will prevent minor abrasions. Hope this will you.
