What Causes Red Lump Or Nodule Of Pink/red Tissue After Having Tonsillectomy?
Hi, I had a tonsillectomy 6 days ago and noticed on day two that I had one rounded red lump or nodule of pink/ red tissue that looks similar in appearance to the uvula but approx half the size. It was located on the medial border of where my left tonsil was and where the white scabs ends. Now on days 6 my throat has become suddenly more painful again and I now have three lumps of the same description, two on the left side (where the majority of the pain is coming from) and one on the right side. Is this normal? What is causing this? Do I need to contact my ENT for a reassessment/ complications?
Hi, In the post tonsillectomy phase, the tonsil bed will be covered with white Slough and there might be some tags due to suture tied bleeders. Don't worry about pain or tags at present. Most of it will heal by time. Pain is normal post tonsillectomy, eating and swallowing itself is the main treatment.Dont stop eating!! Only thing you need to worry about is bleeding, which might be an indicator of secondary infection.
