What Causes Red Rash On Limbs And Face Post Treatment For Severe Ear Infection?

My nine year old daughter was diagnosed with ear infections in both ears. She is on an antibiotic. She has had a bad cough for about two weeks and her nose started running about a week ago (the ear infection diagnosis was 11 days ago). We took her back to the dr yesterday and they gave her a stronger antibiotic (she had been on amoxicillin). Today she has a rash on her limbs, derriere, and there is a red spot on her face. I am concerned this is more than an ear infection. Thoughts?

Hello,

The rash on body can be due to allergic reaction against the antibiotic. I suggest you to consult your treating doctor for clinical assessment of the rash and to change the antibiotic if required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri
