What Causes Red Rash On The Upper Lip While Suffering From Genital Herpes?

Let me first start my saying I have genital herpes for the paSt 20+ years. Since December, I have been getting a red welt on the same spot on my upper lip at random occurrances. It doesn t blister, but it feels warm, throbbing and itchy. It lasts for about an hour, then is gone. I thought that it could be the early stages of a cold sore, but it doesn t turn into that. Also, the perimeter of my lips in general have become itchy at times. Any thoughts about what this can be?

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to herpes simplex.

I recommend using antiviral medication such as Acyclovir.

I also recommend using antiviral cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
