Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got a flu shot on Wednesday and yesterday I noticed a quarter-sized red spot a few inches below the injection site. It is warm to the touch. It is now about the size of a tennis ball. I don't have any pain, but the site itches sometimes. Is this normal?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain a quarter sized lump a few inches below the injection site can be due to allergic reaction to the medication injected while it can also be unrelated to the injection and can be due to any bug bite or insect bite.. I would suggest you to take anti-allergics like benadryl, apply a steroid ointment over it and do cold compresses.. In case if it does not resolve in a week consult an Allergist and get evaluated and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
