What Causes Redness An Swelling At The Area Of Piercing In A 13 Month Old?

My daughter had her ears pierced 2 weeks ago and everything was going well, but woke up this morning and the piercing site is very red and looks slightly swollen..I have been told different things with what to do for this so I am very confused. Do I spray it with antibacterial spray or leave it? She is 13months old

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi....By what you quote it seems to be a skin infection, otherwise called cellulitis of the particular area. If she is having fever and if the redness is spreading...she will require an antibiotic orally called Clindamycin after blood culture. see your pediatrician please. Happy to help anytime. If you are happy with my reply...kindly rate it.
