General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on your history, your mother may be suffering from allergic reaction. Redness and swelling will subside in a few days. Abscess or infection following DTaP vaccine should be ruled out. Un-sterile techniques used during injection could have been the cause in case of infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
