Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Rib-cage Pain In Women, Suffering From Cough And Historical IBS?
I HAVE A PAIN UNDER MY RIGHT RIB CAGE. I DO HAVE A COUGH THAT IS LINGERING FROM A BAD COLD. I AM NOT SURE IF THE PAIN IS FROM STRAINING. I ALSO HAVE A HISTORY OF IBS. I CURRENTLY HAVE NO NAUSEA, VOMITING, FEVER, OR DIFFICULTY URINATING. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD BE CONCERNED ABOUT. I AM A 36 YEAR OLD FEMALE.
Pain under the rib cage is a characteristic finding associated with IBS, and the pain is almost 95% because of that. The cough could be due to acid reflux which is also commonly seen with IBS, and I would recommend a change in lifestyle along with the initiation of omeprazole tablet once about 15 minutes before each meal.
Best wishes.
