What Causes Right Sided Abdominal Pain Upon Exertion?

My husband has started having sharp pains in the middle of his abdomen on the right side when he overexerts himself by raking or pushing too hard. Could this be a problem with his liver? He takes meds for cholesterol, diabetes, testosterone cream, high blood pressure and anxiety.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

Liver usually does not hurt. However in this location we have a gallbladder and it can hurt in that way. Especially if it have some stones inside. Nausea can appear as well. The pain can be triggered by fatty foods.

I suggest him to have abdominal ultrasound done.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
