What Causes Ringing In Ear After Hearing Loud Music?

I had a bad cold over christmas and now when I hear loud music I get a kind of ringing in my ear and feel slightly disorientated. The same occurred last night when there was lots of clapping in a school hall, it was almost as if my left ear someone was clanging together two metal ball bearings. If that makes sense!

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,listening of ringing sounds is called Tinnitus.

In your case ,it may be caused by hearing loud sounds or it may be due to cold which causes Eustachian tube blockage(the tube which connects ear with nose and is responsible for equalization of ear pressure with the outside atmospheric pressure) or both.

For the treatment, you have to avoid listening to loud sounds in future.

Avoid cold food , Steam Inhalation,Oral Antihistaminics (like Cetrizine),Nasal Decongestants(like Otrivin nasal drops) if you are suffering from cold.

You can also get benefit from tablet Betahistine.

Brahmri pranayam might also help if you are aware of how to do pranayam.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.
