What Causes Ringing Sound In Ears?

My mother is 43 she was listening to a book on tape type recording through ear buds when she fell asleep she slept all night with the ear buds in. Now when she wakes up there is a high pitched ringing in her right ear each morning followed by a headache and she sometimes gets feels queasy but never actually gets sick. Is the ringing in her ears related to falling asleep with the ear buds in?

Hi,

Noted the history about your 43 year old Mother and understood the concerns about high pitched ringing in her right ear after she slept ears buds in ear while listening to music, also have headache and feels queasy in the morning.

Yes the commonest cause be thought to be the trauma cased by the ear bud or the cracked noise out of the old type of sound recording though ear buds. Most probable cause can be retained bud. Another causes can also be considered like Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Acoustic trauma. Such a thing can be diagnosed by the following: Consult an ENT Surgeon for Endoscopy to see the exact problem so that a proper management can be done to get a proper cure. Ask her not to clean herself or try at home by someone else.

If there is a bud then this will be removed by the Doctor. If there is any other reason then she has to get a prescription based treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
