Heart surgery is not the cause of your husband's increase in eye pressure. The following may be few probable causes of increase in eye pressure:
1) Occular hypertension
2) Glaucoma
Occular hypertension is just increase in
intraocular pressure more than 21 mm of hg. Careful observation and regular checking helps in detection of glaucoma and timely treatment without loss of vision.
The following are risk factors of glaucoma or increase in intraocular pressure:
1) Age over 55
2) Asian or hispanic heritage
3) Family history of glaucoma
4) Certain medical conditions, such as
diabetes, migraines,
high blood pressure and sickle cell anemia
5) Corneas that are thin in the center
6) Extreme
nearsightedness or farsightedness
7)
Eye injury or certain types of eye surgery
8) Taking corticosteroid medicines, especially eye drops, for a long time
Prompt treatment can control glaucoma and improve eye sight.
