Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had three episodes last summer where my BP went to 220/120. I was very jittery, pale and nauseous. I went to the Emergency Room. My BP went back to normal from the time I left my house until the time I was being looked at. They tested my heart where all of the tests came back negative. They X-rayed my brain which was negative. I went to a nephrologist who did a 24 hour urine and took blood looking for adrenal gland problems. Everything was negative. Since those three scary episodes I have had less scary ones where my pressure and heart rate go up. My BP goes to 140/100 with BPM of over 100. I was diagnosed with a cyst on my adrenal almost 20 years ago. That was also looked at again. It did not grow. I just had the standard thyroid blood test done which came back normal. The Dr. s think it is anxiety disorder. What do you think? P.S. I had a heart attack at age 40 (I am now 53) and I have been on a Beta Blocker for 13 years.
I can understand your concern and would try to help you in the best possible way. From the information you have provided it seems you have got most of diagnostics done. I would be happy to see the reports if possible. The only differentials that need to be looked for based on your information are anxiety disorder, medication side effects, Renal artery stenosis, vasculitis and pheochromocytoma(Adrenal issue so I suppose it has been checked for though I would like to see the report). I suggest you consult a doctor for ruling out above conditions and do a medication review for you to adjust the medication. In the mean while I suggest you encourage yourself in physical activity and start yoga and other relaxation exercises.
